Does it always seem like it rains on the weekends? Are you fresh out of fun inside games that keep your children entertained? Well here is a little list to refresh your weekend woes.
1. Balloon Hockey~ This game is exactly as it sounds. All you need is: two laundry baskets, a balloon (I recommend 2 or 3 just in case one pops), and something that can be used as a hockey stick (pool noodles are my personal favorite, but something like wooden mixing spoons would work too.) You set the laundry baskets at each end of the room, put the balloon in the middle and the goal of the game is for someone to hit the balloon into the opposite net. It is super easy set up, low mess, and helps your kiddos get their wiggles out!
2. Pillow sack race~ You remember all those family picnics where you did potato sack races? Why not bring the fun inside? All you need are pillow cases and boom! You've got yourself a race.
3. Lego hunt~ This one is quiet and can help clean up those ever present Lego's all over your house. All you need is colored paper. (OR you can have your children color white paper solid colors, red, yellow, blue, green...) Put those papers out on a table or in an open space, then have the kids collect and sort the Lego's on the proper colored paper. Have them count the end results and the color with the most is the winner! As a bonus see if your child can create an all (fill in the blank) color dragon or house or statue with the winning color.
4. Beach Ball Simon Says~ Here is one where you as the adult can literally sit on the couch if you wish! All you need is a beach ball and a marker. On the beach ball write Simon tasks like, barking like a dog, walk like a penguin, dance the Chicken Dance. Throw the ball to your child and the task that their right pointer finger lands on or near is their Simon Says task. Let's be honest here, I would get up and play this one too!
5. Dance Stories~ Turn on an instrumental song, YouTube has great playlists for this. Let your child hear it once and then have them make up a story with actions to the song. You can have music with animal sounds in it and pretend you are in the jungle. Have a song with waves? Beach day dance. This helps your child channel their imagination and it is VERY relaxing!
