This summer I have been going back to simple. Simple play, simple crafts, a lot of time outside, just simple. L doesn't know a world where everything is go go go because she is so young. She probably wont even remember anything from this summer. However, I will remember as a parent how simple felt. Not going to lie, unplugging and being outside is magical.
Something simple that I have always loved to do is, pick your own berries! There is a joke in the family that they needed to weigh my brother before we went picking and then after to make sure we paid for all the berries that he ate. I found I needed to do this with L too!
My favorite place to pick so far is in Colchester. I love Mazza's on Poor Farm Road. They accept credit card and have a lot of berries to pick. Just yesterday we could have picked blueberries, raspberries, AND black raspberries. L and I opted for the raspberries and black raspberries. The bushes are well kept and easy to pick, even for a young toddler. They even let us park right down by where we were picking so I didn't have to carry a child and a box of berries. They won massive mommy points for that!
I was optimistic of the outing and said I wanted a whole flat of berries, L had a different idea. The picture above is all we were able to collect, however, L had a great time and enjoyed being in the berry patch. It was a simple afternoon spent together, but the memories of her running down the berry row happily squealing with delight will be with me forever.
